Frequently Asked Questions

1. What do you do at an event or what is your style?

This is the question we receive most frequently from clients who have never seen us before. The answer is simply, what ever you would like us to do. Entertaining is not about "what we do", it is about "what you would like us to do for you." One prospective client's idea of a great disc jockey is another's worst nightmare. Imagine us as actors with you providing the script for your vision of the perfect event. That script is our reception form. You may find this document here on our website. Each function we provide entertainment for is designed to meet our client's exact specifications. It is this attention to detail and personal preference that assures the success of your event.

2. Why should I use a disc jockey instead of a juke box?

Personal Service - A juke box cannot offer the personal service that a disc jockey can. We are able to assist in the planning of your function and can cater for instant requests far better than a juke box.

Variety of Music - We offer a far more diverse and extensive selection of music than a juke box. The larger the guest list, the more variety in music is needed. Juke boxes are limited to a certain amount of music. Our extensive music library can keep any crowd happy.

3. How will the Disc Jockey dress?

For formal affairs, we dress in a tuxedo or black dress. For less formal functions, jacket and tie, smart casual or as requested by you on our booking confirmation.

4. What type of audio and lighting equipment will be used?

We use JBL ,Crown, Rane, Shure and other professional sound and lighting equipment. Inferior equipment, often homemade, used in an effort to cut costs, can result in static, inadequate bass, distortion and generally poor sound.

5. What music will be played at my function?

We play music with tremendous mass appeal, as well as requests made by you and your guests. On our booking confirmation, you can indicate specific musical requests and what styles of music you feel is appropriate (and also what styles are inappropriate) for your function. We use this information along with our professional judgment in selecting music and in honoring or declining specific requests.

6. What if I request music that we do not own?

Our music collection is quite large with over 90,000 selections and does include most common requests. However, if you give an advance request for music that I do not own, I will make every effort to obtain it for your function. The further in advance I receive the request, the more likely I'll be able to get it. I can also play special music from CD's supplied by you or your guests.

7. Will you be setting up while our guests are present?

No. We always arrange our schedule to arrive a few hours earlier than the start time of the event. This allows ample time to be completely setup, a sound check to be carried out and elimination of any potential problems prior to the time that your first guest arrives.

8. Does the DJ get involved or interact with the guests?

This is up to you. We can be as interactive as you would like. We pride Ourselves on being able to tailor the performance to suit your needs. Basic audience participation is always recommended as this promotes party fun but if you would prefer to eliminate this element we can accommodate that request as well. Again, it is entirely up to you.

9. Will I receive a written contract?

Yes, every client that books us to perform at their function will receive a written contract that details all the issues pertaining to the event. If a DJ will not give you a written contract, then you are best off to keep looking. A contract protects both parties. Always get a contract.

10. Do you display any banners or other advertisements?

Absolutely not. We pride ourselves on being elegant. While referral business is always very much appreciated, we feel that our services speak for themselves. We therefore do not display any banners, logos, or signs on any of the equipment or elsewhere in the function room nor place any business cards on the dinner tables. Should any of your guests wish a business card for future reference, one will be discreetly provided to them on their request.

11. What if we are already booked for my date?

One of the advantages about booking with our service is that you deal directly with us from your initial inquiry right through to the conclusion of the performance at your event. For clients who book with us that's great, as they receive the utmost personalized service. For clients that wish to engage our services for a date that is already booked, if you wish, we are able to assist you by providing a referral to a select group of professional disc jockeys that I have confidence in, and know, will have your best interests at heart.

12. Do you carry liability insurance?

Yes, any reputable disc jockey would carry liability insurance to protect his clients as well as their own business in the event of an accident.

13. Can you work with a band if I decide I want to use a band and a disc jockey?

Yes, we have done this many times over the years. We also can recommend several great bands depending on your desired style and taste.

14. Why should I use a disc jockey instead of a live band?

Reliability - A Disc Jockey has less personnel to rely on to show up and provide an optimum performance.

Variety - The larger the guest list, the more variety in music is needed. Live bands are usually limited to what they can play well. Our extensive music library can keep any crowd happy.

Dancing - People like to dance to music they are familiar with. We play the original versions of your favorite music.

Continuous Music - We do not take breaks. The music only stops playing at times you specify (such as toasts and speeches).

Cost - Fewer personnel at your function can mean a lower cost. We will provide your favorite music at a reasonable rate.

Sound Level- A disc jockey can tailor the sound level much easier than a live band can. We will reduce the volume level during pre-dinner drinks and meals to allow your guests to converse comfortably. A good rule of thumb is, background music can only be a loud as the person sitting closest to the speakers is comfortable. The music will typically be played somewhat louder during dancing, but this is totally at your discretion.

Participation - A disc jockey tends to offer more audience participation than bands. If participation is desired we will incorporate several various participatory elements that will entertain your crowd.

Lighting Systems - We include basic lighting effects at no extra cost.

14.5 In all fairness to live bands, a top quality live band offers a level of excitement that is unique. Their combination of musical talents and personalities in conjunction with a live performance can be amazing.

15. What if I have more questions?

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call, Email or call us at any time. We will gladly answer any other questions that you may have.
